Policeman allegedly kills driver at checkpoint in Anambra
A police officer has reportedly shot and killed a young man following an altercation at a checkpoint in Anambra East Local Council, Anambra State.
According to reports, the conflict arose from a disagreement involving N100, during which one of the officers allegedly drew his weapon and shot the young man.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, triggered unrest in the community, with local youths staging protests in response to the killing.
The spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP TochukwuIkenga, confirmed the incident and assured the public that the command had intervened to manage the situation.
He said the officer involved has been arrested, disarmed and detained for further investigation and internal disciplinary procedures.
