SS2 student killed at Kaduna School, community petitions Gov Sani

Members of the Doka Community in Kaduna have petitioned the state governor, Senator Uba Sani, to probe the circumstances leading to the death of a Senior Secondary Two (SS2) student of Government Technical College, Ahmed Musa, who was found with signs of brutalisation and strangulation.

Furthermore, the father of the deceased, Comrade Musa Muhammed, a journalist and activist, confirmed the death of his son on the school premises.

In a statement issued by Muhammed to confirm the unfortunate killing of his son, he explained that the incident occurred on Sunday, 16th February 2025, pointing out that he “was brutally murdered by an unknown person.”

He added, “Ahmed Musa’s body was found within the school premises, ‘Government Technical College Malali, Kaduna,’ with physical signs of brutalisation and strangulation.”

He appealed for a comprehensive investigation to uncover those behind his death, and I also call for adequate compensation from those found to have had a hand in the death of Ahmed Musa.

Muhammed said: “Ahmed Musa, being the only son of his mother, his death has dealt a decisive blow to the family.”

Meanwhile, in a petition addressed to the Governor, titled “Urgent Appeal for Justice in the Murder of One of Our Member’s Sons (Ahmed Musa) at Technical School Malali,” the members of the Kaduna Doka Development Association (KDDA) expressed their sorrow and urgent plea for justice.

He added, “We, the members of the Kaduna Doka Development Association (KDDA), write to you with profound sorrow and an urgent plea for justice following the tragic and senseless murder of Ahmed Musa, the son of one of our esteemed members, Alhaji Musa, at Technical School Malali.”

The Chairman of the KDDA, Sani Rabiu Bako, pointed out that “this heinous act has not only devastated the victim’s family but has also deeply affected our entire community.”

He explained that on 16th February 2025, Ahmed Musa of Technical School Malali was brutally murdered under circumstances that remain unclear but have left his family and friends in shock and disbelief. The loss of such a promising young life is a tragedy that no family should have to endure, and we are compelled to seek your intervention to ensure that those responsible for this crime are brought to justice.”

According to him, our association has always worked tirelessly to promote peace, unity, and development within our community. We have strived to create a safe environment for all our members and their families. However, the recent events have shaken our faith in the safety of our surroundings. We believe that swift action from your office can restore confidence in the justice system and send a strong message that such acts of violence will not be tolerated.”

Additionally, copies of the petition were also sent to the offices of the Commissioner of Police, Commissioner for Education, DSS, and other security agencies.

“We kindly request Your Excellency to direct the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate this case and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice. We urge you to prioritize the safety and security of our citizens, especially in educational institutions, where young lives should be nurtured and protected.

“In addition to the immediate need for justice, we also request that measures be put in place to prevent similar incidents in the future. We believe that increased security presence, improved surveillance, and enhanced community policing can go a long way in ensuring the safety of our children and youth.

“We understand that the government faces numerous challenges, but we are confident that with your leadership and commitment to public safety, this matter can be resolved swiftly and effectively. We are hopeful that you will take the necessary steps to address this issue and provide comfort to the bereaved family.”

When The Guardian contacted the spokesman of the Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, on the incident, he said, “Yes, we are investigating the matter. The Commissioner of Police has directed a full investigation into the issue.”
