The Rivers State Police Command has announced that two suspects declared wanted in connection with the alleged assault on Ahoada East Local Government Area’s Sole Administrator, Goodluck Iheanachor, have surrendered to the authorities.
Mr. Hector Ekakita, Chief Security Officer, and Mr. Aloni Olodi, Chief of Staff, presented themselves to the police on July 10, 2025, at approximately 3 pm.
The suspects were declared wanted on July 6, 2025, for their alleged roles in a violent attack on Hon. Iheanachor at the council secretariat on June 20, 2025.
The incident, according to police, involved a group of about 30 youths who forcibly entered the administrator’s office, assaulted him, stole documents and personal items, and coerced him into signing a resignation letter under duress.
A statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said that following their surrender, the suspects were interviewed by the Commissioner of Police and his management team.
“They have been handed over to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) for further investigation.
“The police command urges anyone with information that can aid the investigation to come forward,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, emphasised the importance of public cooperation and assistance in ensuring that justice is served.
He assured the public that the investigation would be thorough and transparent, to maintain law and order in Rivers State.
