TCN repairs: Power outage hits Taraba, Adamawa, Gombe

Residents across Taraba, Adamawa, and parts of Gombe states are currently experiencing a major power outage as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) begins critical repair work on the Bauchi–Gombe 330kV transmission line.

According to a statement from Yola Electricity Distribution Company (Yola DisCo), the maintenance, which commenced at 8:00 AM today, is expected to continue until 6:00 PM on both 14 and 15 October 2025.

The outage, Yola DisCo explained, is due to ongoing efforts to reinforce components of the transmission towers that were vandalised.

The repairs, as made known in the statement, are aimed at stabilising the power network and improving long-term electricity supply across the affected regions.

During the scheduled maintenance, customers in Yola and Jalingo, YEDC said, will experience temporary power cuts, while other areas will receive electricity through alternate lines. Power supply is expected to be restored daily after 6:00 PM for the duration of the repair works.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work with TCN to strengthen the power infrastructure for improved service delivery,” the statement read.

At the time of filing this report, business activities, as noticed by The Guardian, have slowed down, particularly in Adamawa and Taraba states.
