
Security operatives in Kaduna State have once again rescued two individuals from kidnappers and apprehended terrorists in possession of AK-47 rifles and ammunition.

The Kaduna Police Command reported on Monday that on August 14, 2024, at 6pm, operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit successfully intercepted two male suspects in possession of a fabricated AK-47 rifle at Madaci Village in Zaria.
According to a statement by the state’s Police Spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan, the 25-year-old suspects, Abulaziz Habibu and Nuhu Thomas, both residents of Dogon Dawa, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, confessed to being involved in the illicit trade of arms, supplying weapons to notorious bandits operating in the Zaria area.
According to the police spokesman, the duo’s confessions have provided crucial leads, and they are currently cooperating with the police in ongoing investigations aimed at identifying and apprehending their accomplices.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation on the same date around 8am, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafa Division, acting on credible information from a reliable source, led a surveillance team to Gidan Abeh Village, Kagarko LGA, where operatives successfully apprehended Abubakar Yahuza, a 36-year-old male resident of Gidan Abeh Village.
During interrogation, Yahuza confessed to running errands and serving as an informant for the kidnappers, who reportedly hibernate within the Gidan Dogo Forest.
Additionally, on August 18, at 6:30 am, officers of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) stationed in Kuriga swiftly responded to gunfire heard on the outskirts of the village.
According to ASP Hassan, upon arrival, the operatives encountered two armed men on motorcycles attempting to abduct two farmers. A brief exchange of gunfire ensued, forcing the bandits to flee and abandon their captives. The rescued victims suffered head injuries inflicted by the assailants and were treated at the Kuriga Primary Health Care Center. They have since been discharged.
ASP Hassan reported that the Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Ali Dabigi, commended the officers for their exemplary work in apprehending the suspects and urged the public to continue supporting the police by providing credible information that will aid them in their duties and the ongoing fight against crime.
