Six victims of a car crash, including two medical doctors and staff members of Specialist Hospital, Sokoto, and four others, have reportedly died in an accident along the Bodinga-Yabo Road.
The two doctors, Anas Chika and Abubakar Shehu, along with the four other occupants of the vehicle, were on their way to Kebbi State when the incident occurred.
Their vehicle was said to have collided with an oncoming truck.
The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Attaihru Isa, stated that Anas was with the Gynaecology Department of the hospital, while Shehu was with the Outpatient Department.
Shehu also served as the Chief Imam of the hospital, according to Dr. Attaihru.
“We are very sad, particularly the Specialist Hospital and the state government because we lost two of our dedicated, kind, and humble doctors. We are truly in a very sad mood, but we take it as the will of Allah.
“It is something that really touched our hearts. We pray that Allah grants them Jannatul Firdaus and grants their families the ability to bear the loss,” he prayed.
The Nigeria Medical Association Chairman of Sokoto State, Dr Farouk Kabiru, who also confirmed the deaths of the doctors, stated that both of them would be missed by the state due to their contributions to healthcare development.
“We are shocked by their sudden death because they were such promising and highly dedicated young doctors in our midst,” he said.
“We were not aware of the deaths until this morning (Monday) after their corpses were brought to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital.”
