
During a courtesy visit to the Commission in Abuja, the PVF, led by its national chairman, DIG Mohammed Yusuf (rtd), highlighted the inadequate retirement benefits that fail to meet their needs in the current economic climate.
They also expressed their willingness to take up teaching appointments at police colleges to support themselves and emphasised their continued association with the PSC.
The veterans further raised concerns about the pension levels of retired Commissioners of Police, asserting that many officers face financial challenges.
They called for transparent promotion guidelines to prevent undeserved promotions and highlighted the need for timely resolution of disciplinary matters.
Additionally, they advocated for opportunities for junior police officers with additional qualifications to undergo short-term courses and be advanced to appropriate grade levels.
The delegation also stressed the importance of enhancing the Police Staff College Jos to meet the required standards.
In response, Chairman DIG Argungu affirmed the Commission’s commitment to transparent leadership and expressed willingness to address the PVF’s issues.
He stressed the Commission’s dedication to building a new Police Force that would make the nation proud and acknowledged the valuable role of the veterans in this endeavour.
He assured the PVF of the Commission’s openness to partnering with them and considering their requests positively.
