A 35-year-old woman, Hadiza Mamuda, has been arrested by the Yobe State Police Command for allegedly killing her husband during a domestic dispute over food in Garin Abba village, Fika Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the suspect struck her husband with a piece of wood during an argument, leading to his death.
“Investigation is underway, and the suspect will be arraigned in court subsequently,” the statement read.
The victim was reported to be a polygamous man with two wives and five children, one of whom is the accused.
The incident has left the family and local community in mourning.
The State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, described the incident as tragic and emphasized the importance of community-based interventions to address domestic violence and abuse.
He called on religious and community leaders to intensify awareness campaigns on the dangers of physical violence within marriages. “The Command remains committed to maintaining security and safety for all citizens,” the commissioner added.
