PDP North-Central Governors on Saturday promised to deliver 100 per cent votes to ensure the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in next month’s general elections.

They made the pledge at the end of their closed door meeting with Senate President David Mark and all the PDP governorship candidates in the zone.

The governors also pledged to recapture Nasarawa and Kwara, currently under the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership.

Gov. Jonah Jang of Plateau State told newsmen that PDP was formed in the North-Central, adding that the zone would continue to be the pillar for the party.

“PDP was formed in the North Central zone, and therefore, North-Central Zone will continue to be PDP.

“By the Grace of the Almighty God, we are delivering all the six states in the North Central plus the FCT to President Jonathan.

“We will win all the governorship positions and all the other positions in the North-Central by the grace of God.”

On his part, Gov. Gabriel Suswam of Benue said the meeting was aimed at re-strategising towards achieving 100 per cent votes for President Jonathan and to ensure victory for all the PDP candidates in the zone.

“North Central zone is the pillar of the Presidential election, we want to meet and strategise as to how we can make sure that the President comes back on Feb. 14.

“We have done that, we will be meeting from time to time to review and reassess ourselves before the elections

“We are very confident that North-Central will deliver 100 per cent to President Goodluck Jonathan.”

Gov. Aliyu Babangida of Niger said that the meeting was held essentially to devise stategy on how to recapture Nasarawa and Kwara states.

He said that stakeholders of the party would continue to meet periodically until the North-Central was completely delivered to the PDP in next month’s elections.

“North central has always been the main foundation of PDP and we want to make sure that the 2015 elections also is reflected in that way.

“We want to recapture our two states of Nassarawa and Kwara and ensure that the other four states are delivered to the PDP.

“Essentially that is what we have discussed here and then the cooperation that is needed to do that.

“We have been the pillar since 1999 to date, the pillar of the PDP and we need to meet and that is why we are meeting to make sure that we harmonise all our positions.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was attended by ministers, legislators, PDP governorship candidates from Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, Benue and Plateau states as well as their respective running mates. (NAN)
