Agbaje charges Lagos on doctors’ welfare
Ganiyu Solomon backs Ambode
THE governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has asked Governor Babatunde Fashola to pay striking medical doctors in the state without delay.
Agbaje, a pharmacist, spoke against the backdrop of the warning strike embarked upon by doctors in the employment of the state government.
He said the strike signified not only a failure of leadership but underscored the impunity with which the government dealt with its employees.
According to Agbaje, the strike exposed the hypocrisy behind the APC propaganda of free-health services, as the hospitals remained underfunded, with the bulk of treatment funded by patients.
He promised to improve health services if voted into office.
Accuses APC of plans to rig gov polls
Also, the campaign organisation of Jimi Agbaje has challenged the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) for denying plans to use electoral staff to rig the next governorship polls.
The organisation was responding to a statement by the Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, who denied the allegation.
According to Agbaje’s Media Director, Felix Oboagwina, it had become typical of the Lagos ruling party to infiltrate the ranks of INEC ad hoc electoral clerks and supervisors with APC members.
In addition, he accused the APC of forcing civil servants and teachers in the state service to attend political meetings, in which rigging tactics were hatched.
“These are manifestations of old tricks, and we shall leave no stone unturned to puncture all such shenanigans,” Oboagwina said.
Meanwhile, one of the former aspirants of the APC governorship ticket, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon (GOS) representing Lagos West senatorial district has supported the party’s guber candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode Monday at an event organised by pensioners of the state government.
He said Lagos would benefit greatly from Ambode’s 27 years experience in governance.
“Lagos is not meant for trial and error and the destiny of over 20 million people should not be handed over to an amateur in governance like Mr. Jimi Agbaje and the PDP’s catastrophic misrule and mistreatment of the Nigerian economy should not be allowed in Lagos,” he stated.
