OdusileOgun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun yesterday congratulated the Managing Editor of The Nation Newspapers, Mr Abdulwaheed Odusile on his election as the National President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Amosun, in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, described the election of Odusile as a “Window that would open up new vistas for the practice of journalism in Nigeria.”

His words, “Odusile is a thoroughbred press man who holds aloft the banner of balance, fairness and objectivity. His devotion to the ethics of the profession is beyond doubt.”

The Governor also congratulated the media community in Nigeria for conducting a credible poll and wished Odusile a highly successful tenure.

In a related development, the immediate past Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel also yesterday congratulated Odusile on his election.

Daniel, in a statement by his media aide, Mr. Ayo Giwa, stated that the election of Odusile did not come as a surprise, considering his sound training in journalism and professionalism “in the career which qualifies him as a worthy ambassador to direct the affairs of the nation’s watchdog at this crucial phase of the country”.
