OGUN State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has said he would declare a public holiday anytime the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) decides to distribute the Permenent Voters’ Card (PVC).

Amosun who spoke at Ajebo, ward 11 in Obafemi/Owode local government area of the State explained that in view of the importance his administration attaches to the forthcoming elections, it was needful for him to declare a holiday to enable all registered voters to collect their PVCs to enable them to vote.

The INEC has said that over 30 million registered voters are yet to be given their PVCs.

The Governor who was on his re-election tour to the area declared that his government was not relenting in the voters’ education and sensitisation of the people about the importance of the cards.

Amosun who was reacting to a reporter’s question said, “we will declare public holiday to allow our people obtain their cards when we see the sign that INEC is ready.

“We can’t just declare holiday when the cards are not ready. We are doing everything to sensitize our people on the importance of the cards, that is the first stage to lection,”Amosun said.

The governor also promised to commence work on the OGTV- Kajola – Obafe-

Ajebo road when re- elected.

He praised former governor Chief Segun Osoba, now a chieftain of the Social

Democratic Party (SDP), who constructed the road during his tenure in office.

“We have concluded plans to re-construct the road leading from OGTV down to

Ajebo. You know it was done during the time of Chief Osoba, the road did not last for one and half years, but we should give it to him for doing it.

“We should not deceive ourselves, the topographic texture of the road is not favourable, so the road needs a concrete work, we should be aware of that and by the special grace of God,it is part of our first assignment when re elected into office. So, I want to appeal to our people to bear with us as we are now set to move in to the rural areas across the State and these areas are part of them,” the governor posited.

The campaign team later stormed Alapako-Oni, Ogunmakin and Ajura, which is the polling unit of the governor.

In her speech at the Obafemi ward 10,Governor Amosun’s running mate, Princess Yetunde Onanuga charged women to come out enmass to vote for the governor who she described as a gender friendly Governor.
