THE All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has said it had uncovered plot by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to disrupt the campaign rally for its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, slated for today in Ado-Ekiti

But the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has described APC’s allegation as ridiculous and a face saving device knowing fully well that the people of the state have rejected their party.

In a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Ola‎tubosun, APC said it had incontrovertible evidence that PDP had mapped out plans to unleash terror on APC members and supporters by using fake soldiers imported from neighbouring countries to be mixed with local miscreants to cause mayhem.

“The local miscreants are to help identify APC and their supporters to be attacked at check points and so prevent them from entering the state. The Plan B is to deck PDP thugs in APC uniforms to shoot APC members coming to the rally as PDP did in Rivers State,” Olatubosun explained.

The party said Governor Ayodele Fayose’s utterances in Lagos last week had confirmed the dastardly plan, stressing that as the arrowhead of PDP’s rigging machine, his boast that President Goodluck Jonathan would win like he won the June 21 governorship election, pointed to the same pattern of his boast before that controversial election.

Olatubosun said: “Going by his recent frequent trips outside the state just like he did instead of campaigning before his election, we know that‎ another rigging plot is in the offing. Now that details of their plan have been uncovered, Nigerians should watch PDP and Fayose very closely as they elect their President on February 14.”

APC spokesman reminded Nigerians that Fayose is capable of doing anything to achieve his aim, pointing out that the governor cared less about the implications of his actions as long as he was able to achieve his aim.

His words: “Governor Fayose behaves as if he owes no one anything. Or how can a man who claimed a popular vote quickly forget about those who purportedly worked to secure his so-called victory? Within two months in government, all his known supporters, including ordinary citizens, have deserted him when they discovered that he had conned them.

“Fayose has been boasting around that like PDP did in Akure, he will also not allow APC to hold its campaign and ‘Walk for Change’ rally in Ekiti State. But we urge our teeming supporters not to be intimidated because Fayose does not have monopoly of violence. Any attempt to prevent or disrupt our rallies shall be fiercely resisted.”

Olatubosun urged the Army and police to be professional in the handling of political activities in the state and should not allow themselves to be used as instruments of intimidation in the run-up to the February 14 presidential election.

“Ekiti people like other Nigerians have made up their minds to effect a change in the leadership of the country for good governance for national growth and their individual’s development.‎ There is no force that can deter them from achieving this noble and historical feat,”  Olatubosun said

In his response, state secretary of PDP, Dr Tope Aluko, said the APC was only trying to give excuse for their impending abysmal failure in the coming elections.

“They know that the people of the state will not welcome their team. They know that as the people rejected them during the June 21 poll, they have even seen more of APC’s deceit and would not accord them any warm welcome.

“They know that they cannot muster any large crowd to their rally, so, they are preparing ground for the failure. Who will the people go out to see? Those who deceived them for four years or those who are serial election losers?

“We are busy preparing for our own rally and to welcome our great leaders and have no time for them. The police and other security agencies have guaranteed security of all, so, APC should stop crying wolf where there is none,” he said.
