Confusion as two APC ‘candidates’ campaign for same constituency

THERE is confusion as to who the Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC)‎ candidate into the Ovia Federal Constituency is as two persons, incumbent Nosakhare Osahon and Charity Amayanvbo have both launched campaigns for the seat.

   While the electoral committee that conducted the December 7 2014 primaries of the party announced Amayanvbo as winner, Osahon through the verdict of the party’s appeal panels was returned as winner of the primaries.

   But he told journalists that he was shocked that when names of candidates were published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), his was not there and surprisingly, it was Amayanvbo that was published.

   However,  he ‎urged his supporters not to quit the party in spite of controversy surrounding his candidature for the February 14, elections As he said he remained the party’s candidate for the February 14, House of Representatives elections.

   Crisis had trailed the APC primaries for the Ovia Federal constituency ticket after some persons alleged to be supporters of the lawmaker’s opponent disrupted the primaries.

  The State Publicity Secretary of APC, Godwin Erahon told The Guardian that the matter was court but that Ayamanvbo remained the party’s candidate until otherwise decided by the court.

  Osahon told his supporters when he launched his campaign that “for the avoidance of doubt, copies of the reports of both the APC electoral committee for the NASS primaries and the NASS appeal committee of the party are available.

   “On the 17th of December, 2014, the national working committee of the party met in Abuja to ratify the decision of both the committees that earlier declared me winner.

   “After the meeting, I was given my nomination form which I duly filled and submitted to the party’s secretariat for onward transmission to the INEC.
