Ex-minister lauds Buhari’s neutrality in N’Assembly elections

ERSTWHILE Minister of Education, Prof. Jerry Agada has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for maintaining neutrality at the unfolding event that culminated to the emergence of the current National Assembly leaders.

Prof. Agada, who is a PDP chieftain in Benue State, sounded the praise in Makurdi while chatting with journalists, maintained that All Progressives Congress came to portray change and what has happened is the beginning of the expected change.

“On this, I share idea with President Buhari for refusing to say because he is APC everything must be APC.”
“What happened at the National Assembly is a replica of what happened in many states including Benue. It is not strange, it happened in many other places too. To me, I am a PDP member and I am happy just as the party is happy,” Agada stated.

He said as it is now, left to the party in the majority to generate ideas on how to manage the situation, saying ‘it is the person that has a wife that knows how to go to bed with such a wife.’

Commenting on the cancellation of last minute massive recruitment into the state civil service the PDP chieftain says administration is supposed to be a continuum and described the revocation of the appointments as more of a military action.

“In my opinion, what the APC administration has done about the last minutes recruitment carried out by the out-gone government is more of military action. I would have suggested that a committee of Permanent Secretaries would have been constituted to review the recruitment to bring out the best option,” he opined.

He advised the Ortom-led APC administration in the state to always listen to the voices of the people by resisting monopoly of knowledge, noting that two heads are better than one.

On what Ortom should do to quickly calm nerves in the state, the former Minister of Education said the Governor should use his ingenuity to raise funds to pay workers’ salary even as he acknowledged that things are bad in the state.

“I know that things are bad but the governor should do his best to make things work. You know that a hungry man is an angry man,” he stated.
