Former aspirants team up with Ikpeazu at Abia rally

THE chances of the Abia state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)governorship  candidate in this year’s election Dr Okezie Ikpeazu became brighter yesterday at the party’s state campaign kick off rally when some former aspirants that lost in the primaries, among them , the   immediate past Labour Minister Chief Emeka Wogu,  former  deputy governor Chief Acho Nwakanma and  Dr Uche  Sampson Ogah  represented by Ambassador Empire Kanu , openly declared their support for him.

 The former aspirants , who individually addressed the rally  held at Umuahia Township Stadium, canvassed  votes for all the PDP candidates at state and Federal elections.

  Speaking at the rally, governor Theodore Orji who said he was delighted to present the guber flag to Ikpeazu who will take over from him, pleaded with  aggrieved party members, to forgive and forget and work for the success of the PDP which he said is large enough to accommodate all members  of the  PDP family.

  Orji  who before the rally commissioned the newly completed E-Library and new State Secretariat, pledged to be an effective senator for Abia Central if elected saying  “ I will represent Abia Central in the senate to the best of my ability and knowledge”.

 He announced , the party’s support to all candidates with  the donation of two buses to each senatorial candidate and a  bus each to those for the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly.

 In his speech, Ikpeazu pledged to continue the legacies Orji had been working hard on including the E-Library of which he said:

“The E-Library fits into my model in which  E-Commerce will thrive and position Abia to be major exporters of goods , because we have all the natural advantages to do so.”

According to him, under his government “ every man and woman will have something to do and earn a decent living and I will be ruthless in the pursuit of this mission”.

 The high point of the rally was the presentation of  party flags to the candidates with the flag for the Abia Central Senate candidate handed    to governor Orji by  former  Anambra state governor Mr Peter Obi.
