THE Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has raised an alarm over recent scammers’ gimmicks to defraud the public with fake promises of juicy employment opportunities at the Commission.

The Commission said investigations have revealed on-going activities of fraudsters who had created a fake recruitment facebook page with the name of its Zonal Commanding Officer in Abuja, Assistant Corps Marshal Jonas Agwu, under the guise of extorting money from desperate job seekers to join the employ of the Commission.

It noted that the scammers also spelt out various categories as existing vacancies in the commission for officers and marshal cadres like the assistant route commanders, superintendent road marshals and road marshals.

Corps Public Education Officer of FRSC, Imoh Etuk, said yesterday in Abuja that management of the organisation is disturbed by the trend and has already “distanced itself from this criminal act.”

He said: “For avoidance of doubt, the general public should note that the Commission adopts open and genuine processes in conducting its recruitment exercise and publishes same through numerous platforms such as national newspapers, television and radio stations, its website, official Facebook and Twitter.”

Also, following recent road traffic crashes involving tankers and trailers, a meeting was convened by FRSC to review the situation and discuss the way forward.
