THE candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in last governorship election in Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, has condemned last Thursday’s July 16, 2015 twin-blasts at Gombe Main Market, which killed 50 people.
Yahaya, who condemned this act while speaking with journalists in Gombe yesterday shortly after the party members met and discussed issues affecting the party, further described the blasts as unfortunate, expressing optimism that the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari will bring an end to insurgency in the country.
The governorship candidate, who condoled with the family of the bereaved and prayed for the repose of their soul when he visited the scene of the blast and the bereaved families, said they would not relent in their struggle at the tribunal.
“We will continue to struggle until we claim and actualise our stolen mandate at the tribunal. I am optimistic that we won the 2015 governorship election”, he said.
According to him, the recent internal crisis that engulfed the party and led to two factions would soon be a thing of the past.
“I am the gubernatorial candidate of the party, the leader of the party, I am still bewildered and surprised that a small internal problem generated to something else, but that is politics”, he said.
Meanwhile, in a communiqué issued after the meeting, the party members resolved that the party re-affirmed its loyalty to APC’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
The party, which also re-affirmed the vote of no confidence and suspension of Malam Magaji Doho and others for their anti-party roles in the last concluded governorship election, affirmed loyalty to the Acting Chairman, Mr. Ishaya Karu and the rest of the 23 executive members and pledged to give them all the necessary support.
