IG redeploys 33 CPs nationwide
INSPECTOR GENERAL of Police (IGP), Mr. Suleiman Abba, has redeployed 33 commissioners of police (CPs) across the country.
The exercise, it was learnt, is aimed at filling the vacant positions created in some state commands by officers who have proceeded to the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS) Kuru, while accommodating those returning, all towards repositioning the force for better performance.
In a statement yesterday, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Emmanuel Ojukwu, indicated that while four CPs were leaving NIPPS to head other commands, five others – Waheed Salau (formerly of Airport Command), Usman Yakubu of Nasarawa Command, Ibrahim Adamu of Abia, Foluso Adebanjo of Edo states and Agboola Oshodi-Glover of Force ICT Unit – are going to the institute.
In the North West, former CP, Police Mobile Force, Mohammed Idris, now heads Kano State Command, Danladi Mshelbwala (formerly of Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EOD), now heads Kebbi State, Salisu Abdullahi (former CP Special Protection Unit), FHQ Abuja, now commands Sokoto State, while Usman Abubakar and Olufemi Ogunbayode (both formerly at NIPPS), now man Jigawa and Zamfara states respectively.
Also redeployed from NIPPS are Musa Mohammed and Dorothy Gimba, who now head Oyo State and Airport Commands. Shuaibu Gambo, who held forth in Sokoto, is now CP Counter Terrorism Unit, FHQ, where he takes over from Joshak Habila, now CP Abia State.
Equally affected are the former CP, Oyo State, A.K. Shodipo, now heading Special Fraud Unit, FHQ, Idris Umar from Jigawa as CP Intelligence, Mohammed Usman, formerly of the Department of Planning & Statistics, FHQ, to Nasarawa State, Lawal Shehu from Bauchi State to Department of Finance & Administration, FHQ, and Nyats Nyehsu Jatau, formerly of Railway Lagos, to Taraba State to take over from Ademola Omole, who is now Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos.
Former Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos, Mohammed K. Mohammed, now heads Bauchi, former Kogi State CP, Paul Okafor, handing over to Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, now leaves for Bayelsa State to take over from Valentine Ntomchukwu, now posted to Ogun State.
Tijanni Baba, who was in Zamfara State, is now redeployed to Special Protection Unit (FHQ), Damilola Adegbuyi of Special Fraud Unit, FHQ, takes over in Edo State, and while Ishaku Alhaji Barau, from Kebbi State, is redeployed as Commandant, Police Detective College, Enugu, Sam Okaula of State CID, Delta State, now heads General Investigation, FCID, FHQ.
