I’ll complete on-going projects, says Shekarau

Shekarau, who reminded them of his administration’s pledge to focus on the long-term goals as contained in the Kano State Road Map for Development and to initiate new frontiers, charged participants at the retreat to cooperate and work as a team to ensure the attainment of the set goals.

He noted that one of the legacies his administration will leave behind is the 10-Year Development Plan carefully and deliberately developed in collaboration with International Development Partners and in consultation with relevant stakeholders in the society.

The governor maintained that the state remained a pacesetter in that direction since the advent of his administration, which the Federal Government continued to emulate from its well-articulated programmes.

Shekarau disclosed that with the introduction of Human Development Policy and Kano State Roadmap for Development by his administration, the Federal Government came up with NEEDS and SEEDS and Nigeria’s Vision 20:2020, which he said, was a replica of these programmes.

He said considering the unique position of the state in the scheme of things in the country, it is duty-bound on the people and the state government to remain at the forefront of every endeavour for the economic growth of the country.

The governor restated his resolve to make Kano State an active player towards the realisation of country’s Vision 20:2020.

Shekarau said the retreat was designed to afford them the opportunity to review, refresh and renew their resolve to serve the people.

He urged the participants to pay keen interest to the retreat and implement religiously the recommendations and resolutions agreed upon, as it was the last retreat for his administration.
