Alhaji Mohammed Mahe, the Chief Imam of the Bwari Central Mosque, has enjoined Muslim faithful to pray for the peace and the prosperity of the country in the new Islamic Year.

Mahe made the call on Wednesday in Bwari in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to him, Oct. 14, marks the first day of Muharram, which is the first month in the Islamic calendar.

He noted the day also marked the new Islamic year 1437 after Hijra and enjoined Muslim faithful to pray for God’s help to uphold peace and progress in the country.

“Prayer is the only solution to our nation’s diverse problems and challenges; we can only enjoy peace and prosperity by seeking God’s intervention through prayers.

“This is the mere reason I am enjoining Muslim faithful to pray to God to grant our nation continued peace and progress that we long for.

He further enjoined Muslims to abide by the Islamic teachings and practice of Prophet Muhammad as enshrined in the Holy Books, which are the Qur’an and the Hadith.

“By doing that, you are obeying spiritual commandment and portraying Islamic religion in good light,’’ he said.
