• Pledges three million votes for Jonathan

PLATEAU State Governor, Jonah Jang has commended the armed forces and other security agencies for ensuring peace in the state.

He gave the commendation during this year’s wreath laying ceremony of the armed forces remembrance day which took place at the J.D, Gomwalk Secretariat Cenotaph in Jos.

Jang challenged them to continue their duty with honour and professionalism, saying that the greatest service the nation can do to the past heroes is to ensure the unity and stability of the country. He added that the indivisibility of Nigeria should be paramount in the minds of the people irrespective of diversities.

The governor pointed out that his government remains committed in pursuing unity among the people despite the enormity of the task.

Earlier, Chairman of the Veterans, Plateau State Council, Colonel Danladi Rwang (rtd), commended Jang for the financial assistance accorded the state chapter.

Meanwhile, Governor Jonah Jang has said that having given President Jonathan two million votes in the 2011 election, the state is striving to do more by giving him about three million votes.

Jang started this at a women political rally organised by his wife Ngo Talatu Jang to support President Jonathan, the PDP governorship flag bearer in the state, Senator Gyang Pwajok and other PDP candidates. The rally was to create awareness for women in the state to vote for the party’s candidates.

The governor also advised the APC presidential candidate, Maj.Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) to drop his presidential ambition having contested and failed severally.

According to him, “The APC candidate has contested this presidency the fourth time now. I think he should just surrender. He is a great Nigerian. He was a former military head of state, and we fought the civil war together. But Nigerians are simply saying ‘allow us’; he should find out for himself why Nigerians are saying so.”

For President Jonathan, “I call on the people of Plateau State to give him overwhelming support by voting for him to continue to do the good work he has started. He has the requisite experience to rule this nation.”

Jang also noted that there are people who are bent on dividing the nation along tribal and religious line, “but we are saying no. I advocate that whoever is good enough to rule Nigeria be given the chance irrespective of wherever he comes from and whatever religion or tribe he belongs.”

Rwang lamented the hardship faced by the veterans and encouraged all institutions responsible for pension administration to be more committed and responsive to the plight of the heroes who have rendered selfless services to the country.

While expressing optimism of a brighter future for Plateau State and Nigeria, the chairman of the veterans lamented that the endless menace of insurgency and their secret sponsors have gradually become the greatest threat tho the corporate survival of the country.

Over N10million was earlier realised from the emblem appeal launch with the state government donating the sum of N10million.
