Kidnappers Release Dariye’s Father
THE saga surrounding the kidnap of the father of former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, has come to an end with the release of the octogenarian in Quaan Pan Local Government Area of the state Friday.
Dariye’s father, Pa Dariye, who was kidnapped at gun point in his house in Mushere, Bokkos Local Government Area, last Sunday morning, was said to have been abandoned somewhere in Quaan Pan early morning of yesterday after a hot chase of his captors.
Spokesman of the Special Task Force on Jos crisis, Capt. Ikedichi Iweha, said the men of the force had chased and arrest some of the kidnappers.
According to him, the 87-year old man has been released to the family for proper medical care. He added that those arrested would be paraded soon.
There was jubilation as soon as the news of the release of Pa Dariye filtered into Bokkos Local Council and Jos town.
The release is coming a day after the visit of Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang. The governor had paid a solidarity visit to the family of Pa Dafwan Dariye on Thursday over the abduction of Joshua Dariye’s father.
Jang, who was accompanied by his wife, Ngo Talatu; the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the state, Senator Gyang Pwajok and the senior government officials, had expressed sadness over the incident.
The governor lamented why the elderly man would be subjected to such a traumatic condition.
Dariye had appreciated Jang for the visit, describing it as a great encouragement to the family.
