Lalong To Reduce Suffering, Create Opportunities
THE new governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has said the goal of his administration will be to reduce people’s sufferings by boosting the quality of life and creating opportunities for every citizen of the state.
The governor gave the assurance while delivering his inaugural speech at Rwang Pam Township Stadium on Friday.
He said his administration would establish a framework that will drive both formal and informal programmes aimed at the promotion of peaceful coexistence among citizens and improving security through strengthening of mechanisms for conflict resolution.
“Peace building as a fulcrum of this administration will include developing alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and multi-track community interactional diplomacy. In this way, we will not only evolve a collective peace building nexus and participatory governance in the state, but set up appropriate and solid foundation for development,” he said.
Lalong said his administration will deliver a governance process where the best ideas will rise to the top, based upon their merits, regardless of which side of the political divide or geopolitical zones they come from.
“I am confident that there is no problem that faces us today, which hard work, honesty and courage cannot solve, if we choose to work together. While some of these problems might look daunting, our collective resolve to tackle them remain solidly unwavering.
“The next four years will not be easy. The mission to rescue Plateau is not only in the hand of the leadership of the APC or the governor and his deputy, but in the active participation of the average Plateau man, in the civil service, in our homes, in the school, in the work place and in our private relationship,” he said.
