• Jonathan will revive Ajaokuta steel if re-elected, says Wada
• APC members join PDP in Niger
THE minister of National Planning and Deputy Chairman, National Planning Commission, Dr. Sulaiman Abubakar, has cautioned some politicians against passing invective on the office and personality of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Speaking with reporters in Ilorin on the recent visit of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign team in the state, Abubakar said it is disheartening to note that some people insult the president of a country without any decorum.
“This ugly situation portends a serious threat to the growth of democracy in the country and this attitude should change in order to move the nation forward and protect the presidency.”
Dr. Abubakar, who described the presidential rally in the state as issue-based, said Mr. President had talked on all what he had been able to do since assumption of office.
He also insisted that the present central administration had helped the University of Ilorin in Kwara State, to make it rank the best in Nigeria, saying that the credit should not exclusively go to the administrators of the university.
Meanwhile, Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State has reassured the electorate in the state of President Jonathan’s commitment to the full resuscitation of the Ajaokuta steel complex just as he called on them to vote for him to achieve that objective.
The governor who spoke when he paid a courtesy call on the Ohinohi of Ebira land, his royal majesty Dr. Ado Ibrahim, said Jonathan will bring Ajaokuta fully alive.
Wada indicated that the Itakpe iron ore was receiving Federal Government’s attention with the on-going construction of Lokoja-Okene-Benin bypass federal road.
