THE Council of Ulama, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid”ah Wa Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has admonished Muslims nationwide, particularly Fulani, on the need for confidence building, proper education and good moral values.

JIBWIS National Chairman, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, made the call Sunday during a seminar for the Fulani held at the organization’s Science Secondary School, Jos, under the auspices of JIBWIS National Directorate of Education, Department of Fulani Njange Ndure (Study and Rear).

Jingir said that JIBWIS created a special department for Study and Rear in order to reach out to most herders across the country. According to him, “with the emergence of the department, a lot of educational activities have reached out to the Fulani, a lot of schools were also established under the department.”

Such schools, he said, included the one at Mavo Community in Wase local council of Plateau State, adding that the seminar was meant to create deeper awareness among the herders, especially now that the country is facing a lot of security and social challenges.

According to him, “the seminar is to also bring better understanding from the context of the Qur’an on how best to rear your animals and improve agricultural yields.”

To that end, Jingir said the herders should get educated to become doctors, nurses and lawyers, soldiers, policemen, immigration officers and administrators in all fields of governance, adding: “We should build hospitals, clinics, schools and other institutions.”

Speaking at the event, President of Miyyeti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Ardo Kiruwa, said the seminar was timely, as a lot of challenges were bound to occur in the lives and affairs of the herders.

In his presentation, another cleric, Sheikh Sa’idu Hassan Jingir, stressed that Muslims must uphold the truth, be obedient to parents and truthful to all people in their undertakings because these are values that can make them trustworthy.
