President Bola Tinubu has affirmed that his administration’s tax reforms will remain in place.
He made this declaration on Monday night during his first presidential media chat in Lagos State.
The tax reform bills, currently under consideration by the National Assembly, have sparked controversy and faced resistance, particularly from Northern leaders, prompting lawmakers to initiate consultations.
However, Tinubu said that the reforms are designed to benefit the poor, even if they face opposition from certain quarters.
He said, “The tax reforms are here to stay. The reform is pro-poor and is aimed at widening the tax net so more people can contribute.
“The hallmark of a good leader is the ability to do what must be done at the right time.”
