Oil and gas trainers hold confab in Lagos

Oil and gas service trainers in the country will today converge on Lagos to discuss emerging issues in the sector.

The trainers, under the aegis of Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN), will deliberate on Effective Human Capital Development In An Economic Downturn: Building For the Future In The Oil And Gas Sector.

The two-day conference and exhibition, holding at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, will also have sub-themes like: Leveraging on Nigerian talent as engine for boosting economic development and employment generation; and driving industry resilience through effective capacity building and technology acquisition for training in Nigeria.

The conference will also dwell on the role of international standards and quality benchmark in effective human capital development, and the challenges of Nigeria’s educational system: role of traditional and technical colleges in reducing skills gap in the oil and gas industry.

The event is targeted at all training providers in the oil and gas sector, local and international oil companies, marginal field operators as well as other stakeholders and institutions providing trained resources for the industry.

In partnership with OGTAN for the conference are the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board and the Petroleum Development Fund. Other key participants include Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Ministry of Education.
