•State govt disburses over N1b micro-credit loan
AHEAD of this month’s general elections, Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on yesterday commenced its campaign with Governor Olusegun Mimiko declaring that his government would construct the 27.5 Kilometer Odoko-Ondo road before the expiration of his second term in office.
The grand campaign which will cover the 18 local councils of the state, also visited Akure South and Ifedore local governments on the commencement day.
Meanwhile, Mimiko has stated that his government has, since inception in 2009, disbursed over One Billion Naira to all categories of beneficiaries under its various micro- credit loan schemes.
He spokeduring the flag-off ceremony of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund (MSMEDF) and presentation of cheques to beneficiaries in Akure.
A statement by Information Commissioner Kayode Akinmade in Akure at the weekend had said the campaign train would also move to the northern senatorial district of Ose, Owo and Ikare from where it will later proceed to the Southern senatorial district of Ore, Okitipupa and Igbokoda areas.
Mimiko while addressing a rally in Idanre where the campaign train took off, further stated that if the people of area vote for all the PDP candidates in the presidential, national and state assembly elections, he would also, in company with the serving senator in the district, Ayo Akinyelure,
lobby the Federal government and ensure the construction of the 65.6 Kilometre Idanre-Ofosu road.
He described Akinyelure, a.k.a Allover, a native of Idanre, representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, as a performer who has represented the District well. He said the Senator’s achievements are unprecedented.
“ I have never seen a man like him. He created 365 jobs for the people of the senatorial district. He is a man of principle and character” the Governor said of Allover.
Governor Mimiko who had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Owa of Idanre, Oba Frederick Aroloye urged the people to ensure the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan by voting enmasse for him.
He said apart from the President’s landmark achievements in the area of Agriculture, Transport, Road network, Aviation, Health Education among others, President Jonathan’s re-election bid should also be supported because he represents the minority which should be adequately rewarded for providing what the nation survives on.
He said the President’s re-election bid should be ensured by the people for fairness and stability of the country.
