Onwuliri receives 3,000 decamping APC members in Imo

EVEN as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has shifted the polls to March 28 and April 11, respectively, no fewer than 3,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Amuzi, Ahiazu Mbaise Local council of Imo State, at the weekend  decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They unanimously  declared their support for the President Goodluck Jonathan, the Imo governorship candidate of the PDP, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, the member representing Ezinihitte, Ahiazu Mbaise in the House of Representatives, Ralph Nnanna Igbokwe, and the PDP candidate in the House of Assembly   Ichie Ken Agbim among others.

 Whereas Onwuliri hails from Ahiazu Mbaise, Ihedioha is a native of Mbutu, Aboh Mbaise Local Council, Imo State.

  Receiving the former APC members at a  rally at the Amuzi play ground, Onwuliri commended them for taking a bold step in declaring support for Jonathan and others, promising them that their decision would not be in vain.

 “I am delighted by your action today. This bold step will get to the ears of His Excellency, President Goodluck Jonathan. He will be happy to hear this. Your decision to join PDP today, you will not regret it. The PDP government under President Jonathan’s watch is mindful of the welfare of the citizenry of Nigeria. If re- elected more dividend of democracy and provision of amenities, employment for our youths will be assured.” She said.

  She reminded them that the President appointed their son the chairman of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Governing Board, Chief Felix Chukwu; a Federal Permanent Secretary, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Onwuliri, a Commissioner of Police and others in sensitive positions, optimistically, stressing that he would do more to please the people of the area in next dispensation if returned, calling for more support.

  Speaking, Chukwu, Igbokwe and Agbim, said they were on the right track, stressing that Jonathan had done good things for the people, including construction of projects, commencing the designing and eventual construction of the second Niger Bridge among others, commending them for the massive decamp.

  Highlight of the massively attended event was decoration of some of the decampees with the PDP insignia by Onwuliri assisted by others.
