A GROUP in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – Ward to Ward Initiative for Jonathan and Sambo 2015 is planning to mobilise 40 million votes for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential election this month.

National Coordinator of the group, Mr. Kamal Karka, disclosed this Tuesday during the North-East Presidential Monitoring Team tour in Yola.

He said its mission was to take the campaign of the president to ward level, which he described as the critical electoral unit.

He disclosed that the group has about four million members in all states.

Karka said that each of its members has a mandate to influence 10 votes for Jonathan.

He pointed out that the tour was to sensitize people at the grassroots over the achievements of President Jonathan.

The national coordinator attributed the socio-political challenges facing the north to the elites who he said do not care about their people.

Meanwhile, commercial transport operators in Abuja have supported the re-election of President Jonathan. This was expressed at a road show rally where hundreds of commercial transport operators from different states mobilised at the weekend in Abuja.

The Director of Transport, Painted Abuja Taxi (PAT), Joseph Chukwukelu said, “We show our support to President Jonathan because no other President has done what he has done for the transporters especially with the SURE-P intervention for transport operators.”

Wisdom Ikuli, National Director of Mobilization of Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), explained the motivation behind the mobilization of the transport workers. He said,

“Members of the NURTW, Keke Napep Union and PAT, from within and outskirts of Abuja have mobilized themselves in solidarity for this road show.”
