THE alleged imposition of candidates in All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State is a situation that will profit the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), enabling it to wrestle power from the administration of Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

This was disclosed by one of the founding fathers of the PDP in the state, Abdulkadir Yusuf Gude, who spoke to The Guardian, in his residence in Kano.

He stressed that, his party PDP should remain focused in the state as all signs indicate that APC was on the verge of losing vast majority of its members, who were not happy with the way candidates were imposed on the party during its just-concluded primary elections.

Gude disclosed that the ruling APC ignored all known principles of internal democracy during the conduct of the primaries that saw to the emergence of candidates vying for different positions, especially gubernatorial position.

“That is why I feel it is extremely necessary to congratulate our party for conducting very peaceful and transparent primary election recently. The election was well conducted and all our candidates are the genuine winners of the election. Imposition of candidates is not in our dictionary,” Gude explained.

According to Gude, as a result of the imposition of candidates during the primary election in the ruling APC, there was every reason to posit that there was going to be protest votes among APC members in the coming election. This, in his view would give PDP more chances in all the elections to come in the state.

“We have 80% to say the least, chances of winning Kano. Even the present government under Governor Kwankwaso was elected on the platform of PDP. This tells you that Kano is a PDP state,” Gude challenged.
