President commends TAN, launches PDP volunteer scheme
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has commended the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) for its pivotal role in his re-election project.
He made the commendation at the banquet hall of the State House, Abuja Monday, during the flag-off event of the newly introduced Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) volunteer scheme.
The volunteer programme was a brainchild of TAN, the PDP Campaign Council and the Women for Change and Development Initiative.
The President, in his remarks during the event commended the chairman of TAN, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah for his untiring zeal and commitment to the welfare of the Nigerian masses, especially as driven by the transformation agenda of his administration.
He expressed surprise at what TAN has done in shifting the public opinion to his favour since the group emerged last year, pointing out that he has always wondered who the sponsors of the group are.
He said that such rare patriotic zeal should be emulated by all well meaning Nigerians in the interest of progress devoid of any sentiments.
PDP, according to Jonathan, remains the party to beat in this years general election because of the positive impact his administration has made in all the sectors of the economy and on the lives of all Nigerians.
The Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, Dr. Ahmed Ali and Governor Godswill Akpabio in their separate speeches commended the efforts of TAN.
The PDP volunteer form, a novel idea is meant to take Jonathan’s message progress and equal opportunity to all citizens to the grassroots, and to seek support for him ahead the presidential poll.
