AS debate continues over the educational qualification of the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Niger State Governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu has declared that some candidates vying for political office in the country are not qualified to run because of their antecedence.

   He then advised the electorate to be wary of those they will cast their ballot for in the general elections, adding that by the antecedence of these set of politicians, they could repeat what they have done in the past.

   Aliyu made the declaration in Minna, the state capital when he received the leadership of the Igbo community resident in Minna led by the Eze Ndigbo Ngozi Pampas Wahiwe and the Angas community in Minna, led by Mr. Bitrus Simon as well as members of the International Republican Institute of the United States of America.

   According to him, “We need an equitable society, some people are not supposed to be running for public office because of their past, they should bury their heads in shame.”

   The governor said that many candidates are also contesting the 2015 general elections because they see politics as the easiest way to make money, insisting that, “if you want to be rich, go to the market to do business not to seek public office which is for service to the people.”

   The governor condemned the violence associated with the campaigns in some parts of the country, stressing that, “we must encourage our youths to be positive, they must protect government properties and investments in their area.”

“We should play politics on equal basis nobody should destroy posters and bill boards of candidates”.

He disclosed that security operatives in the state have been directed to arrest and prosecute anyone caught defacing or destroying posters of politicians and bill boards.

Governor Aliyu assured all residents of the state of the security to their lives and property before, during and after the election.

Earlier the two community leaders have honoured the governor with the titles of the ‘Peace Maker of Niger state’.

 Eze Ndigbo Ngozi Pampas Wahiwe had appealed to the governor to consider the appointments of more Ndigbo’s into his government.
