A COALITION of youths drawn from across the six states of the South-West geo-political zone on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have thrown their weight behind the second term bid of President Goodluck Jonathan as Nigerians prepare for the February 14 elections.

The youths who came from all the higher institutions of education in the zone to converge in Akure, the state capital for a meeting, said after the parley, that they were endorsing Jonathan because of the giant strides of his administration in youth empowerment and education development.

They said the future of the Nigerian youth is better secured in the hands of the PDP candidate whom they said is a vibrant, younger and result-oriented president that the nation has ever had due to many initiatives that have given hope to many young people.    .

Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on student matters, Jude Imagwe who addressed the youths during the meeting, said the president has democratised access to tertiary education in the country with the unprecedented establishment of 14 new Universities and many Polytechnics.

Imagwe used the medium to reel out Jonathan’s achievements in the education, health, roads and agriculture sector, which are targeted at improving the quality of lives of Nigerians and open up the national economy for growth.

Also speaking at the programme, the PDP National Youth Leader, Abdullai Maibasira said that President Jonathan led PDP government is committed to electoral reforms as the party had since remained the only party that is committed to its ideals in the last 16 years.

Maibasira gave assurance that a re-elected President Goodluck Jonathan will create more jobs for unemployed youths especially through reforms in the agricultural sector which he said has put an end to the socio-economic crime of fertilizer racketeering and stimulating Small and Medium Enterprises to drive the economy.

He warned Nigerian youths not to be deceived by the antics of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who portray their presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, as a man of integrity and without blemish saying Jonathan has proved beyond doubt that he meant well for Nigeria and its people.

The Youth Leader also advised the gathering of young men and women to shun all forms of electoral violence and ensure that they vote massively for Jonathan during the February 14 elections
