Tackling B’Haram terrorism and corruption as campaign promises (2)
CONTINUED FROM LAST FRIDAY
IF he is actually can end the insurgency, why wait till the whole North-east is wiped out before stopping Boko Haram? He would have scored a better political point if he had assisted the present administration in tackling the insurgency.
How would you feel if what you hear today from him is, “if as an elder statesman my contribution in tackling the Boko Haram insurgency brought it to an end and today there is peace everywhere in Nigeria, what else do Nigerians think I cannot do to ensure every Nigerian lives happily”? Statements like this would have given more credibility to him than the disgusting promises of stopping insurgency in two weeks/months. Boko Haram activities are acts of terrorism. If the United States with all her security personnel and technologies/manpower has not been able to bring terrorist groups like Al’Qqaida, ISIS and the rest under control for decades, it means that anyone who promises to put Boko Haram under check within such a short time, is either a sponsor or a big liar who just wants to take advantage of the gullibility of Nigerians.
If the aspirant truly loves the unity and peace of this nation as he claims, this is the time to prove it, waiting till he assumes office as president-elect is a decision that no one except the electorate can decide and in Nigeria it is never over until it is over.
Should we then continue to witness this wanton killing and destruction of innocent lives and property if he fails to make it at the polls since he appears to be the only one with the midas touch in terms of the insurgency? God forbid!
In a recent interview, he was asked about Nigeria’s status in organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). He lied that Nigeria is not a member of the OIC whereas Nigeria is. According to the records Nigeria became a member under Gen. Babangida. We believe this is the very reason he is obsessed to be president in order to avoid Nigeria being excommunicated from OIC given the body’s constitutional requirement to bar member countries who fail to service the financial assistance it renders to such states by way of interest.
Another four years for President Jonathan will mean automatic excommunication of Nigeria from OIC, thereby making Nigeria a secular country and this is one of the major reasons beside vendetta that he is fighting at all costs to become president.
On the issue of religion the general purposely avoided the question by his reference to his colleagues who were Christians at the time he forcefully took over power from Alhaji Sheu Shagari as a military head and his cook and driver as well as other personal security at his disposal no personal explanation/comments on how he intends to tackle the issue of religion if voted into power.
Nigerians be guided, vote wisely. Don’t let a group who have pocketed a region of this country come like wolf in sheep clothing to attempt to rule Nigeria as their private property in the guise of change.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
