AS Governor Theodore Orji completes his eight years in office, Abia state teachers said that governor would be remembered and appreciated for being the first and only state governor that promoted all teachers en mass to their next salary grade levels and implemented a policy that allows teachers to access   Salary Grade level Seventeen which was not hitherto the case before the advent of the governor.

This teachers praised the governor on Tuesday when the state Dean of Education Secretaries, Mrs. Elizabeth Uhuegbu spoke at the parley governor Orji held with heads of primary schools, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), the Integrated Trade groups and Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI) at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, the state capital.

According to her, teachers welfare have received great boost  “ it is under him that all teachers were promoted to their next salary grade levels and began to enjoy  Salary Grade level 17” adding that in order to sustain this scenario,  they would  support the election of  Orji’s successor  with same disposition favorable to teachers in the state.

The governor who was also lauded for mass renovation and face-lifting of dilapidated and dilapidating schools buildings across the state and provision of learning facilities, had in his address assured teachers, artisans and professionals in the state of his continued support.

He assured them that his likely successor and governorship candidate of his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu who is a teacher and was present at the parley will, if elected, still improve on what is on ground and correct whatever mistake he (Orji) may have made in office hence, he urged them to vote in Ikpeazu and other PDP candidates in this year’s elections.
