THE People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State has challenged the people of Nsukka Council to turn out enmass on February 28 and ensure that nothing goes wrong in the election of the party’s governorship candidate, their son, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Yesterday, at the Nsukka Council, the headquarters of the Enugu North senatorial zone the party’s governorship candidate told his kinsmen that, “we have not come to campaign today, but to thank the state governor Sullivan Chime, who has consoled Nsukka Division with the governorship slot.”

Said Ugwuanyi, “Nsukka, my owners, my brothers. We thanked God for using Chime to lift us up. I am trying not be emotional.”

While hailing the performance of Chime, Ugwuanyi assured the people of Nsukka “of a seamless continuity and consolidation on Sullivan’s performance. He has shown he is a governor of Enugu and not governor of Udi. He has worked for every part of the state. We can’t pay him back, but we pray we have the opportunity to say we are grateful. Our future generations will honour him. He created the enabling environment and today, we have come to thank God for Sullivan. Nsukka has gathered to say thank you.”

Ugwuanyi reminded party members to take opportunity of the extension of the collection of permanent voters card, (PVCs) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to collect their “cards, through which you can confer the power in the PDP.”

The state governor Sullivan Chime, thanked Nsukka people for turning out enmass. According to him, “this is not a new thing but today is different. Thank you for your continued support, we will never take it for granted.” Thanking the council for naming the campaign arena after him, hailed the team of candidates as a credible one. He noted that all the candidates, from Ugwuanyi, who has spent 12 years in the legislative chambers, to the National Assembly candidates are experienced and tested.”

The House of Representative candidate Ikechukwu Ugwuegede (Nsukka/Igboeze South), led other speakers to thank the governor for “your good works in Nsukka.” Commenting on the state of projects in the state, he said, “I will investigate to know why a project like the Adada Water Works was abandoned after the government awarded the contract. I promise to do more for the people to make Nsukka look like other areas in the state.”
