THE State of Georgia in the United States of America (USA) is partnering with AquaShield Oil to boost marine business in the country.
Representatives of the Economic Development Committee of Georgia, Senator Donzella James, during a visit to AquaShield Oil, a marine company based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said Nigeria has what it takes to do business and invest in the State of Georgia.
He noted that the partnership would foster closer relationship between both countries, adding that their visit has vindicated Nigeria from the negative reports from the international media.
James said: “Many people don’t understand the wonderful things Nigeria has to offer, this is an opportunity not to listen to CNN and other international media, who don’t give the real information about the country. The State of Georgia is offering tax incentives in different methods to woo private and public industries to do business in the state.”

She said: “One of the things we are working on in the State of Georgia is bringing together international business with state business. We are also setting up Economic Development Committee of the State to make it easier for interested companies to do business in Georgia by ensuring a relaxing tax structures.”
Responding, executive director of AquaShield Oil and Marine, Ibrahim Saulawa, said the tax incentive and partnership offer is a welcome development for the Nigeria maritime industry and the country at large.
He said “ as a private maritime security company, when you have such offer to partner with a reputable international community like the State of Georgia, it means a lot and goes a long way to say these people know you are competent, capable and reliable to do business with. It’s an added advantage to the maritime industry and Nigeria as a country.”
