Air Peace has evacuated a total of 801 Nigerians from South Africa in three humanitarian missions organised in partnership with the Federal government.

The evacuation was necessitated following the recent xenophobic attacks and anti-immigration tensions in the country.

A statement on Saturday by the Spokesman of Air Peace Efe Osifo-Whiskey, said that the airline completed its third evacuation mission on Thursday, airlifting 268 Nigerian nationals aboard its Boeing 777-200 wide-body aircraft from South Africa to Nigeria.

The latest operation followed the evacuation of 262 Nigerians on June 11 and another 271 on June 30, bringing the total number of Nigerians safely returned home to 801, he said.

According to him, the achievement showed its commitment to supporting national humanitarian efforts and providing timely assistance to Nigerians caught in crisis situations abroad.

He added that the deployment of its long-haul B777 aircraft for the evacuation further indicated its operational capacity and readiness to support the Federal government in safeguarding the welfare of Nigerian citizens.

The carrier noted that beyond its commercial operations, it was committed to reconnecting Nigerians with their families and providing hope during periods of uncertainty.

It added that the latest mission also showed the strong partnership between the airline and the Federal government in delivering humanitarian interventions and ensuring the safe, voluntary return of Nigerians affected by the recent xenophobic tensions in South Africa.
Air Peace also said it had continued to build a reputation as Nigeria’s leading humanitarian airline, having undertaken more than 16 humanitarian and evacuation missions across Africa and other parts of the world since it commenced operations.

The statement insisted the airline would continue to support national priorities through emergency response operations, crisis evacuations and other interventions whenever the need arises.

The statement read in part: ““The successful mission further strengthens Air Peace’s legacy as Nigeria’s leading humanitarian airline. Since commencing operations, the carrier has undertaken more than sixteen humanitarian and evacuation missions across Africa and beyond, deploying its aircraft and operational expertise in response to crises, emergency repatriations and national interventions.

“As Nigeria’s flagship private airline, Air Peace remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting national priorities, connecting people safely, and ensuring that whenever Nigerians need a way home, the airline stands ready to answer the call.”
