Nigerian veteran comedian, Ali Baba, has condemned the current Nigerian constitution, calling it crap while also stating that progress cannot be made using the current constitution.

The ace comedian revealed this during an interview with Chude. He said the constitution is one of the reasons he has not run for any political office in the country.

While talking to Chude and answering a question about why he is not in government, despite all his political links and connections, he said, “First of all, our constitution is crap. If you bring Obama to run this country with this constitution, he will fail. What I am saying is that the system is so bad; the constitution needs to be rigid. It is almost pointless running for office with this kind of constitution.”

He added that the corrupt system will not bring any progress to the country and believes the National Assembly is where the problem lies.

According to the comedian, he can’t keep a secret, so whatever money he is given, he will publicise everything to Nigerians.

“For example, after an appointment, if you give me #300M, I will tell everyone that they gave me N300m, and I am whacking this one first. You see, at the National Assembly, the guy who revealed that our budget is being padded—what happened to him? They removed him; he didn’t see the light of day,” he said.

He believes he wouldn’t last for one year, even if he is given the highest post in any administration, referring to the Nigerian civil service.

He added, “Most of them survive on the corruption of their leaders, so anyone who protests the hardship will not last.”

Ali Baba also revealed that he got a hint that Obasanjo wanted him to be Minister of Information and Culture, but he was told that he needed to talk to some people and make some payments before he would be made a minister, but he refused.
