The Alex Otti Inauguration Committee, in conjunction with Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Abia State chapter, will begin a one-week prayer, fasting and thanksgiving programme on May 21 ahead of Otti’s inauguration as the state’s 10th governor on May 29.

According to the Head, Media Sub-Committee of the planning committee of the event, Kazie Ukoh, the occasion, aimed at ushering in a new wave of spirituality, would be rounded off with a re-dedication retreat on May 27, at the open field of Ngwa High School, Aba, by 10:00 a.m.

In a statement signed by Chairman and Secretary of the committee, Uzor Nwachukwu and Bertrand Okeomah, respectively, the committee said a post-inauguration thanksgiving service has been scheduled for June 4.

The committee said: “Following approved transition programmes of the incoming administration in the state by the governor-elect, Dr. Alex Otti, a seven-day Abia-wide week of re-dedication with prayers and fasting, which will hold from May 21 to 26 in all homes, churches and fellowships, has been declared.

“The prayer retreat will hold on May 27 at the Ngwa High School field, Abayi, Aba, by 10: 00 a.m.”

“Similarly, a post inauguration state thanksgiving service will hold on June 4 at Umuahia Township Stadium by 12:00 noon. To ensure a successful exercise, state’s chapter of CAN has called on its member churches in the state to observe the prayer and fasting sessions.

The Christain body, in a statement by its Secretary, Dr. Mgbeahuru Okey, said the directive for the Church in Abia to be part of the programme was issued by the state Chairman, His Eminence Emmanuel Agomoh.

“Let’s join hands with other faithful in this all important assignment for a new Abia of our collective dream,” the CAN statement stated.
