Plateau: Death toll in Mangu rises to seven

The death toll in Mangu, where suspected gunmen attacked the Lighilubang village in Bungha district of Mangu Local Government of Plateau State, has risen to seven.

The village was attacked at midnight on Friday, January 31.

Our correspondent gathered that a family was wiped out in the gruesome attack comprising the husband his wife and a child with
another man and his wife.

“Before the midnight attack, there was a security alert of an impending attack on the Mangu market day, which went viral on social media,” a source said.

The chairman of Mangu Council, Emmanuel BalaMwolpun, condemned the act.

There was a separate murder of one Mrs. Tabitha Dafer in the Lighilubang community of Bungha district of the same Mangu Local
Government. The victim’s body was discovered near the road.

Another two lifeless bodies were found in the bush near the Bungha district of the same Mangu. The bodies were found by women who went to fetch water around the village.
