The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Police Command in Lagos State have detained two university students for alleged involvement in cultism.
RRS confirmed this in a post it shared on its official X handle @rrsLagos767 on Thursday.
It stated that the suspects, 21-year-old and 22-year-old, were apprehended at 4:00 a.m. on Monday in the Lekki area of the state.
“The suspects were apprehended while they were returning from their confraternity’s annual conference at a hotel (name withheld) located in Lekki.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the 21-year-old suspect, popularly called “B in Fine Boy” joined the confraternity in 2024 at the university.
“The 22-year-old suspect, who goes by the alias “Rugged Promotion”, is a hairstylist and also a university student.
“Their apprehension was prompted by the suspicious movement of one of the suspects, who was carrying a cross bag.
“The operatives discovered caps associated with the confraternity, leading to the immediate arrest of both suspects, “it stated.
According to RRS, the arrest reinforces the ongoing efforts of the State Command to curb cult related activities and maintain law and order in the State.
RRS said that the suspects had been transferred to Commissioner of Police’s Special Squad for further investigations.
