Troops dislodge bandits in Kaduna, rescue six hostages

Following weekend’s breakthrough, security forces have dislodged some bandits in their hide-out and rescued six hostages in Chikun Local Council of Kaduna State.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, stated, yesterday, that troops of Operation Forest Sanity, in the early hours of Tuesday, carried out a raid-and-rescue operation in Kuriga and Manini communities of Chikun.

According to report made available to the state government, the troops made contact and engaged bandits at an enclave. After clearing the camp, the troops rescued six citizens held at the location. The rescued persons are: Sahura Hamisu, Ramlatu Umar, Saudatu Ibrahim, Maryam Shittu, Fatima Shuaibu and Khadijah Mohammed, along with her baby.

He added that the rescued persons had been reunited with their families. His words: “The Kaduna State Government has noted the report, especially the rescue of six kidnapped citizens, with gratitude. The government warmly commended the troops, police personnel, intelligence operatives, vigilante members and other security operatives for another successful round of operations.

“The state government conveys its deep appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Chief of Air Staff (CAS), the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division of Nigerian Army, and the Director General, Department of State Services (DSS) for the ongoing wave of onslaughts against criminal enclaves.

“Security forces will continue operations in the general area and other locations of interest across the state. Further updates will be reported accordingly.”
