According to the Chief Executive Officer of the INFINITI QUERENCIA Engr. Adamu Enemona Kogh, “We are thrilled to celebrate this rich heritage and invite all bikers and the general public to join us in embracing the biking culture. The social benefits of biking are undeniable, and we believe it’s essential for everyone to experience the joy and amity that comes with it.”

The history of motorcycles dates back to the mid-19th century, with the first steam-powered motorcycle invented by Pierre Michaux in Paris in 1860. However, it was the development of the internal combustion engine that revolutionized the industry. In 1885, Wilhelm Maybach and Gottlieb Daimler invented the first internal combustion motorcycle, known as the Daimler Reitwagen or “Petrol Bicycle”.

The Daimler Reitwagen marked the beginning of a new era in motorcycle design and innovation. It took nearly nine years for the first motorcycle to be commercially available in 1894. The early 20th century saw the emergence of prominent motorcycle manufacturers, such as Royal Enfield, which introduced new features and designs that transformed the industry.

The motorcycle industry continued to evolve, with innovations in engine design, performance, and functionality. The first motorcycle competition was held in 1907, driving manufacturers to push the boundaries of design and performance. Over the years, motorcycles have become an essential mode of transportation, used for daily commuting, delivery purposes, and recreation.

Today, motorcycles are prized for their excellent mileage, fuel efficiency, compact frame, convenient storage, and impressive road performance. The industry’s growth and innovation have transformed the humble motorcycle from a basic design to a sophisticated, high-performance vehicle.

June 21st, marking the summer solstice and the longest day of the year, coincides with World Bikers’ Day, creates a unique opportunity to promote safe riding practices and celebrate the biking culture. This event serves as a platform for enthusiasts to share their passion, showcase their skills, and connect with like-minded individuals, fostering a positive image of bikers and the biking community.

As part of support from government, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) played a crucial role in ensuring the event’s seamless execution, providing comprehensive road safety measures and expert traffic management that guaranteed a safe and exhilarating experience for all. The event was a dynamic showcase of live music, bike exhibitions, and pulse-pounding stunts, crafting an unforgettable experience that left attendees buzzing with excitement. The theme “Peak Tops” was a fitting tribute to bikers as natural high achievers, while the slogan

“Let’s Think Outside the Bike” inspired riders to push boundaries and explore new horizons while prioritizing safety. Some of the bikers at the events were Bikers Hangout, Bad gang, Ace, Ibadan bikers, Alimosho Bikers, Velocity motorcycle club, BMW GS bikers, and other private bikers.

Engr. Kogh wishes to acknowledge, with profound gratitude to Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Redeemers Health Village (RHV), Billy Osemwegie (Elegante Furniture), 9Zeros Metallic Horses, Skillful Niyi (Torq Show), Aysha B (Iron Butt), Yemi (Canute), Jamesboy (Ghost), and Gabriel (Mechatronic) amongst others for their unwavering support – a gesture that truly touched his heart.
