NIM, African American Research Centre hold joint conference on tech, management

The Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) and Centre for African American Research Studies (CAARS) will hold the maiden edition of their joint international conferences aimed at promoting Leadership and Management in contemporary times with ‘Mainstreaming Technology and Professional Management for Africa’s Global Leadership in a Re-globalising World’ as theme at Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja on July 29, 2025.

A statement signed by Mrs. Taiwo Olusesi, Registrar/Chief Executive, NIM, and Prof. Nnamdi Nwaodu, Director General, Centre for African American Studies (CAARS), revealed that Her Excellency, Prof. Maha Rabat, a former Minister of Health and Population, Egypt, and Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, Chairman, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Nigeria, will lead a team of renowned resource persons that will facilitate at the conference.

“Dr. Naeema Al Gasseer, former Country Director at the World Health Organization; Dr. Maimouna Diop Ly, a medical doctor and specialist public health nutrition, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, CYCAS, Senegal; Dr. Tajudeen Ruji, Director General, African Centre for Disease Control, Nairobi, Kenya; Prof. Amany El Sharif, Vice President, Pan African University, AU Commission; Dr. Mories Atoki, Chief Executive Officer, African Business Coalition for Health; Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Chairman, African Education Trust Fund; Mr. Wendell Addy, Founder and former Chair, African Private Sector Summit, Accra, Ghana, and Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, former Vice Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi are among the guest speakers expected at the conference”, it added.

“The conference targeted at international scholars and researchers, industry experts and business leaders; policymakers and government officials as well as students and young professionals which will take the format of keynote addresses, panel discussion, and paper presentations, seeks to explore the intersection of technology and professional management in Africa’s global leadership; identify innovative solutions for addressing Africa’s infrastructure and technology gaps; foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among international scholars, researchers, and industry experts, and develop a roadmap for implementing effective professional management practices in Africa”, the statement added.

“Some of the topics the to be covered at the conference include Leveraging Cutting-Edge Technology Towards Enforcing Professional Management and Leadership; The Imperatives for Professional Management and Leadership in a Dynamic Multi-Faceted Environment; African Leadership and Professional Management in Contemporary Times: A Call for a Paradigm Shift, and Maintaining an Optimum Economic and Political System Through the Interplay of Professional Management and Leadership,” it further stated.

“The expected outcomes at the end of the proceedings include a comprehensive report on the state of technology and professional management in Africa; a set of recommendations for policymakers, business leaders, and academics on mainstreaming technology and professional management in Africa, and establishment of a network of international scholars, researchers, and industry experts committed to supporting Africa’s global leadership”, the statement concluded.
