Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), has successfully concluded the Train 7 Project Human Capital Development (HCD) Advanced Training Programme, aimed at building capacity for the country’s oil and gas industry.
The programme officially ends on September 30, 2025, with the departure of the trainees from NLNG’s plant complex in Finima, Bonny Island.
A total of 122 trainees, approved by the NCDMB, participated in the three-month On-the-Job Training (OJT) within NLNG facilities after completing prior HCD Basic Training Programmes.
The initiative covered both graduate and vocational categories, focusing on plant and facility management, instrumentation, electrical and mechanical systems, lifting operations, fabrication, and preventive and corrective maintenance.
Speaking at the close-out ceremony, NLNG’s Train 7 Project Director, Engr. Ali Uwais, represented by Engr. Joshua Anemeje, praised the trainees for their dedication and commitment to safety.
“This programme is about building a new generation of Nigerian professionals who will shape the oil and gas sector for decades to come,” Anemeje said, noting that the exercise was completed with a zero-incident safety record.
He commended NCDMB for its strategic partnership and acknowledged the training partners, Candix Engineering Nigeria Limited, AOS Orwell, Arco Marine and Engineering Limited, Dover Engineering, and Amaiden Energy Nigeria Limited, for delivering a world-class OJT experience.
NCDMB’s General Manager, Human Capital Development, Esueme Dan Kikile, described Train 7 as one of Africa’s largest gas infrastructure projects and lauded its role in grooming a globally competitive workforce.
“This training provided hands-on experience that complements academic knowledge, exposing participants to advanced technical disciplines, project management, health and safety, and emerging technologies critical to the industry’s future,” he said.
Kikile revealed that 27 trainees received special recognition awards, with six exceptional participants offered automatic employment by AOS Orwell, one of the training partners.
A statement by NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations, Sophia Horsefall, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Nigerian Content development, citing ongoing partnerships with NCDMB to deepen local capacity in the oil and gas sector.
