NMA decries poor performance of NHIS, others
Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has decried the persistently poor performance of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), poor budgetary allocation to the health sector and lack of transparency in the disbursement and utilisation of funds including the one per cent Consolidated Revenue Fund.
NMA president, Dr. Francis Faduyile, who stated this in Abuja, urged governments to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of the Fund, increase budgetary allocation to the health sector to at least 15 per cent in line with Abuja Declaration of 2001 and explore other innovative funding options for the sector.
