NNPC intensifies monitoring of PMS sale at filling stations
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has intensified the monitoring of filling stations to ensure prompt sale and distribution of Premium Moto Spirit (PMS) at filling stations.
The Deputy Manager Sales, Pipeline and Products Marketing Company Limited, (PPMC), Mohammed Bello, who was attached to monitor the sale of PMS at Forte Oil located opposite Transcop Hilton Hotel Abuja, told the PPMC field team during their field visit that there has been improved supply of the product to the FCT, however, the challenge is distribution.
He disclosed that all the filling stations across the FCT are manned by PPMC staff so as to avoid hoarding of the product and that vehicles do not spend beyond 15minutes to get the produce.
He said: “NNPC has increased supply of fuel to the FCT, the only problem is distribution of the product, and that is why PPMC has attached its staff to monitor the sale in all the filling stations in the FCT and hopefully within the next few days the queues would have disappeared.”
He said so far the sales at the forte oil have been excellent as the filling station operates for 24 hours and he is always there to ensure orderliness. He said with the assurance given by the Minister of State for Petroleum that by 7th of April the fuel scarcity would be resolved and they are hopeful that the challenge would be fixed.
The leader of the PPMC field visit to filling stations, who did not disclose her name, said their aim was to ensure compliance by all the filling stations in the FCT, ensuring that the stations are not cutting corners and motorists get fuel as at when needed.
She said: “Our aim is to ensure queues at the filling stations disappear at soon as possible because NNPC has increased supply of fuel. So filling stations must be able to uptake the fuel from the depot as at when due for onward sale to motorists.”
